The Association for Christian Theological Education in Africa (ACTEA) gathered for its General Assembly and 50th Anniversary Celebration.
Future Ready. Mission-Faithful: The ACTEA General Assembly
Last March 8 to 12, the Association for Christian Theological Education in Africa (ACTEA) held its 2026 General Assembly at the Noora Resort, Bishoftu, Ethiopia. The theme of the said GA is Future Ready. Mission-Faithful and brought together leaders, educators, and partners for worship, strategic dialogue, and reflection on the future of theological education in Africa. The gathering opened opportunities for participants to think through and discuss mission-faithful and future-ready formation, along with emerging trends, leadership development, and opportunities shaping theological education across the continent. It likewise opened the door for networking and rich fellowship among leaders not just within the continent but also across the globe. In fact, our very own Dr. Theresa Lua participated in the weeklong event. Prior to that, she also spoke in a webinar organized by ACTEA held last February 26, entitled “Resilience through Adversity.”
But more than just another gathering for rich and thought-provoking discussions, the GA likewise became the venue to celebrate the 50th anniversary of ACTEA and the 60th anniversary of the Association of Evangelicals in Africa (AEA), the mother organization of ACTEA. A special dinner was held on March 11 for the said occasion. Dr. Lua was asked to give her greetings on behalf of the ATA. She highlighted the good relationship between ACTEA and ATA and the need to learn from each other, as Asia and Africa face similar issues and challenges.
Dr. Theresa Lua was asked to give anniversary greetings on behalf of ATA during the celebration.
Dr. Lua’s presence was a way of honoring the presence of Dr. David Tarus, ACTEA Executive Director, along with two other leaders from ACTEA during the ATA General Assembly in 2022. ACTEA was then planning to hold their first General Assembly in 2023, so they came to observe and learn.
We are grateful for the opportunity to participate, through Dr. Lua, in such a wondrous event, and would like to congratulate Dr. David Tarus for the excellent event that challenged and inspired African and global theological educators and church leaders to be Future-Ready, Mission-Faithful.
